HOW WE TREAT SPORTS INJURIES
Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression
Arthroscopic subacromial decompression is a relatively non-invasive procedure for the treatment of subacromial impingement. The aim of surgery is to increase the size of the subacromial area thereby creating more space for the rotator cuff. This allows the humeral head to move freely in the subacromial space and to lift the arm without pain. If performed as an arthroscopic procedure, the surgeon will examine the joint through a fibreoptic scope connected to a small camera. Small instruments are used to remove bone and soft tissue.
