Mr. Gordon Mackay
Gordon Mackay qualified from Glasgow University in 1987. As a newly qualified doctor, Gordon took the unusual route of pursuing a career in professional football and enjoyed a brief spell as a reserve player for Rangers Football Club.
Gordon returned to medicine a year later and spent the next decade
undertaking extensive training and research in orthopaedic surgery and sports
medicine. He completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports and Exercise
Medicine at London University followed by international training and Sports
Surgery fellowships at some of the world's leading sports surgery clinics,
including Sydney, Adelaide and Sweden.
On his return to Scotland, Gordon was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic
Surgeon at Stirling Royal Infirmary. He completed an MD in the Mechanism and
Prevention of Injuries in Sports at Glasgow University.
Gordon is now a full time sports surgeon in the private sector. He continues to lead the way in sports surgery care and his major interests include, knee, shoulder, and ankle surgery.
