THE INJURIES WE TREAT
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder most commonly affects people aged between 40 and 60, with women affected more than men. It is an extremely painful and debilitating condition characterised by pain and stiffness of the shoulder.
Movements of the shoulder become reduced, sometimes completely 'frozen'. It is thought to be due to scar-like tissue forming in the shoulder capsule (the lining of the shoulder joint).
Surgery has been shown to be of benefit in both the early and later stages of frozen shoulder, providing excellent pain relief and restoring movement. Surgical intervention is aimed at stretching or releasing the contracted joint capsule of the shoulder. The most common methods include manipulation under anaesthesia and shoulder arthroscopy.
