ACL Reconstruction

Reconstruction surgery can help many people recover full function to their knee following an ACL tear.

The surgeon will replace the damaged ACL with a piece of healthy tissue, usually from part of your kneecap or hamstring tendon. The top and bottom ends of the replacement ligament are fixed with specials screws or anchors into ‘tunnels’ drilled in the bone. Successful ACL reconstruction surgery tightens your knee and restores stability.
